Who we are

Welcome to Paper Crane Farm.Paper Crane Farm Sign

This is the name we’ve given to our 2 acre homestead in the suburbs.  On this small parcel of land, we attempt to grow as much of our food as we can and to teach out children to love homegrown food.  We are a family of four, with two little girls, ages 3 and 1.

We write this blog as a record to share of our attempts to attain self sufficiency and independence.  We do this through backyard farming and savvy personal finance.  On this site, you will find pages sharing suggestions of the most interesting plants we grow, the personal finance tricks that have allowed us to maximize a homesteader’s budget, and the literary references that have guided us the most.

If you are just joining us, here are links to a couple of introductory posts to help you get started: Hello From Paper Crane Farm,  Ramblings of a Backyard Survivalist, and What We’re Working With.  You can find us here on Youtube as well.

Thank you for reading.  Please share your thoughts.
